Magali Michaut : French Troubadour & Folk Ballade
La chanson française en voyage
“Et vidunderligt album!” – Katrine Ring, Natsværmeren, DR P2 – May 6, 2021

Blending together influences from classical music, French chansons and folk ballads, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentist Magali Michaut presents strong and poetic texts and transports you into the streets of Paris and around the world. Painting daily emotions, she created her debut album, Impressionniste to be released on Aug 27, 2021. Recorded in Copenhagen with talented musicians, this album includes eight songs (one in English, the others in French). Magali was selected for a prestigious song contest in September in Paris (A nos chansons) with a focus on Georges Brassens. After having played violin in symphonic orchestras in Paris, Cambridge, Toronto and Amsterdam, Magali debuted on the Dutch songwriter scene in 2014, performing her songs in English and French on guitar, piano and ukulele. Her 2016 debut EP ’Bonjour' has since led to performances in 12 countries (Netherlands, USA, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Estonia, Italy, France, Ireland, Great Britain, Greenland, Canada). In 2018, Magali performed at Alice for the ORA Audition Days.

Magali has founded the association Les Chansons françaises au Danemark, organising events and concerts with French speaking artists. She interprets French standards from artists like Georges Brassens, Jean Ferrat, Pierre Lapointe, Pomme, La rue Kétanou, Charles Aznavour, Zaz, Hoshi. She also works with the Swedish duo « Le lac long 814 » and on the adaptation of poems from Guillaume Apollinaire into songs with composer Daniel Östersjö.
